The Founder

Kenny Martinez was raised in the South Bronx projects. That’s where everything started.

From there, he worked his way into corporate America, eventually sitting at tables with the highest C-suite executives, in rooms where decisions were made and power lived. He earned his place. But when he looked around, he didn’t see people who looked like him, talked like him, or came from where he came from.

That gap stayed with him.

Rather than conform, Kenny turned inward, reconnecting with the elements that had always grounded him: culture, music, food, literature, and travel. Through these lenses, he began to study discipline, identity, and what it truly means to build a life with intention.

That’s where BeKenzo was born.

Not as a brand, but as a way to document the journey. To share the mindset it takes to come from overlooked places and keep going anyway. To remind others like him that where you start doesn’t disqualify you. It sharpens you.

A reminder of the work. The silence. The consistency.

"At a very young age in my career, I found myself managing million-dollar projects and working alongside top executives, while still going home to the South Bronx projects. On paper, it looked like success. Internally, it required a level of mental fortitude I hadn’t been prepared for.

I didn’t see anyone who looked like me in those rooms. That absence fed imposter syndrome, doubt, and the constant feeling of having to prove I belonged. So I began studying myself the same way I studied my work. I paid attention to my thoughts, my habits, my discipline, and how I responded under pressure.

What became clear was that mindset was the limiting factor.

I started building mental resilience intentionally. Through movement, reading, culture, travel, and time spent alone reflecting. I learned that clarity doesn’t come from external validation, it comes from consistency and self-trust.

Managing high-stakes work while still rooted in where I came from put everything into perspective. It showed me that environment does not define capacity. That discipline can carry you further than access. That where you start does not cap where you can go.

That understanding changed how I moved through the world.

BeKenzo™ was created as a way to share that mindset. Not as a finished philosophy, but as something I continue to live, learn, and refine every day. It’s a reminder that growth is internal before it’s visible, and that progress is possible no matter where you’re starting from.
